Creativity is encouraged here
Peak's oldest student-led organization is the Peak Theater Club (PTC), which is choreographed and directed entirely by students. Since the program's inception, students have orchestrated five productions, including Alice in Wonderland (spring, 2016), Every 17 Minutes The Crowd Goes Crazy (fall, 2016), The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe (winter, 2017), Clue (spring, 2017), and Puss in Boots (winter, 2018).
PTC was established in 2015 by alumni Selah Kreeger '17 with the purpose of sharing the incredible art form of theater and providing opportunities for both creativity & enrichment. As Selah writes, "The majority of the process and participation focuses on maximizing student leadership and involvement. Everything you see in PTC shows is created and conceptualized by the all-student cast and crew." Selah and her peers have welcomed not only numerous Peak school students into the PTC fold, but also open up their auditions to other Summit County students in the public school and from home-schooling backgrounds. Peak is currently not running PTC, but is hoping to move forward with it in the future!
Our school also has a robust Visual Arts Program in our Middle School, and Upper School Elective offerings.
What to expect in Div I Visual Arts
You will practice using the elements and principles of art and design. Within a broad theme, you will work to develop your personal message and artistic process, experiment and push boundaries with a variety of techniques and mediums, and fine tune craftsmanship. We will introduce critiques; respectfully giving and receiving feedback, reflecting on our artwork and process, evaluate and revise artwork, acknowledge personal strengths and struggles, and generate ideas for future improvement.

We can relate our artwork to quarterly themes, and to each year’s Essential Question.

What to expect in Div III Visual Arts through Elective Classes
Elective becomes even more focused and in depth on the specific skills and techniques that students are interested in developing. Some past elective classes have studied: watercolor and acrylic painting, ink and pencil sketching, mixed media and collage, and sculpture. We often use the natural elements and our mountain lifestyle as inspiration!
In addition to our school offerings, you have the opportunity to engage in numerous off-campus extracurricular arts programs in Summit County. Current and past Peak students have participated in local dance troupes and productions at the Breckenridge Backstage Theatre. We have also worked with Building Hope’s The Hype and with Breck Create.
